Virat Kohli retires from Tests, marks end of an era in Indian cricket
Former India captain Virat Kohli (36) announced his retirement from Test cricket via social media. The announcement comes ahead of India’s five-match Test series against England starting June 20.
Kohli ends his 14-year Test career with 9,230 runs from 123 matches at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries. He ranks India’s fourth-highest Test run-scorer, behind Tendulkar, Dravid, and Gavaskar.
The decision follows teammate Rohit Sharma’s Test retirement on May 7, with both players stepping away before India’s upcoming England tour. Despite a senior BCCI official urging him to reconsider, Kohli confirmed his retirement on the eve of the announcement.

UK and US strike limited trade deal to ease tariffs and boost bilateral commerce
The United Kingdom and the United States have reached a limited trade agreement to ease bilateral tensions and bolster economic cooperation. The deal is not a comprehensive free trade agreement but marks a significant step in Anglo-American trade relations.
Under the new framework, UK-made cars secured notable concessions, including a 10% tariff exemption for up to 100,000 vehicles annually—a substantial relief from the recently announced 27.5% combined levy on most vehicle imports. The agreement also eliminates tariffs on UK steel and aluminium exports to the United States. In reciprocation, the UK has agreed to reduce its 19% tariff on American ethanol, potentially facilitating annual exports worth £560 million. The deal further encompasses provisions to reduce trade barriers for American beef and machinery exports, with projected increases of approximately £4 billion in export value.
