Malaysia’s central bank studies need for a digital currency
Malaysia is looking for ways to adopt digital currency, the nation’s central bank said. Last year, Australia, Singapore and South Africa joined forces to test the use of central bank digital currencies (CBDC) for cross border settlements. Several countries are accessing ways to make everything from interbank transactions to consumer purchases cheaper and more efficient.

New Pan-African payments system provides big relief for African traders
Afreximbank partners with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat to launch the Pan-African Payments and Settlement Systems (PAPSS). It is a platform that will facilitate instant cross-border payments among African countries. The PAPSS is successfully rolling in the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ)—Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, the Gambia and Guinea.
