His Truth and Reconciliation Commission was pivotal in healing national wounds, allowing victims to share their stories and perpetrators to seek amnesty through full disclosure, laying the groundwork for a more united and equitable South Africa.

Brunei’s capital city came alive on July 14, as thousands gathered at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien for the traditional Grand Parade. The event marked the beginning of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s 78th birthday celebrations, showcasing the nation’s deep love and loyalty to their monarch.

Hundreds of students from all four districts lined the main road early in the morning, waving mini national flags to the rhythmic beats of hadrah drums, creating a spirited atmosphere. Upon arrival at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, His Majesty received a 21-gun salute accompanied by the national anthem, officially inaugurating the festivities in his honour.

As the Sultan’s birthday festivities commence, the Grand Parade serves as a powerful reminder of the bond between the monarch and his people, setting the stage for further celebrations across the nation.
