Commonwealth Chamber explores collaboration with Ceylon Chamber in Sri Lanka visit

Julia Charlton, Chairman of the Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce, engaged in productive discussions with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce to explore new avenues of collaboration. The meeting, held in Sri Lanka, highlighted promising opportunities for joint initiatives in webinars and events aimed at fostering business growth and innovation across borders.

The discussions centered around signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise these collaborations, focusing on joint webinars, conferences, and trade missions. Both parties are optimistic that these initiatives will not only promote business growth but also deepen cultural understanding and strengthen diplomatic ties. Looking ahead, Julia Charlton and CEO Buwanekabahu Perera expressed confidence in the future of their partnership, envisioning a dynamic exchange of ideas and resources that will benefit businesses in the Commonwealth and Sri Lanka.

Commonwealth Chamber delegation meets Sri Lankan BOI Chairman

Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce recently concluded a visit to Sri Lanka, where they engaged in discussions with Mr. Dinesh Weerakkody (D.BA), Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI) in Sri Lanka. The meeting focused on current economic policies in Sri Lanka and explored potential avenues for collaboration between the Commonwealth and Sri Lanka.

During the meeting, Mr. Weerakkody briefed the delegation on ongoing policy initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and attracting foreign investment to Sri Lanka. The delegation, in turn, discussed ways in which the Commonwealth can contribute to these efforts, particularly through knowledge sharing, technical assistance, and facilitating business partnerships.

Both parties expressed optimism about the prospects for enhanced cooperation and mutual benefit, underscoring the importance of such dialogues in strengthening economic ties between Sri Lanka and the Commonwealth member states.
