Australia proposes new laws to regulate crypto, BNPL
For the first time in over 20 years, Australia will propose its regulatory framework for digital and crypto payment systems. The country will also broaden its payment laws to cover online transactions such as buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) where the Treasurer will be given the power to direct policies addressing gaps in the regulatory framework. The new Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg said the government would begin consultation in early 2022.

Jamaica’s Forestry Department pushes for adequately greened urban areas
Jamaica’s Forestry Department has been putting in place several projects and initiatives to ensure urban areas are adequately greened and environmentally friendly. A new product line of miniature trees has been provided that can be placed on balconies in urban spaces. Forestry Department and Conservator of Forests’ CEO, Ainsley Henry, believes these interventions are vital to prevent environmental degradation.
