This day is a public holiday for primary and secondary school students! The government organises an annual official event consisting of parades and parties in schools and in public for children to partake in fun activities and celebrations.

Guyana Independence Day
During this day celebrations begin with a flag-raising ceremony and a fireworks display throughout the evening. The President delivers a speech reflecting upon the country’s growth and progress since its Independence. The day is also celebrated by citizens with live music, fashion shows and various family activities.
