Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition: Sedhana wins bronze award

Sedhana Dineth Ukwatte Liyanage wins the bronze prize at the competition based on the topic of the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM) in Rwanda. The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition was conducted by the Royal Commonwealth Society. The 17-year-old, Liyanage’s topic was: “Imagine you are a Head of Government delivering a speech to your counterparts at the CHOGM. Draft a speech that highlights what you believe should be a priority for collective action within the Commonwealth.”

Australia hastens coal plant closures to catch up on climate

Due to new environmental policies from investors and the government, Australia’s major power supplier like AGL Energy and EnergyAustralia plans to shut down operations of their carbon-emitting plants that run on coal. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has also pledged to source most of the state’s electricity from renewables.

United Fintech, a digital platform for global financial institutions expands to Singapore and appoints Cameron Booth as its head of APAC. Cameron will also work with the UK sales team based in Singapore. Of late, Singapore is building a solid image as the biggest FinTech hub, with more than 67% of companies here and a total of about S$4.7 trillion in assets in the market.
