Ghana Parliament votes to end death penalty

In a significant move, Ghana’s Parliament made a historic decision to amend the country’s Criminal Offences Act, resulting in the replacement of the death penalty with life imprisonment. The amendment was introduced by Francis-Xavier Sosu, Minister of Parliament with strong support from various rights groups.
