Royal Canadian Mint unveils King Charles III coins on his birthday
The Royal Canadian Mint has revealed commemorative coins featuring the likeness of King Charles III in celebration of his 75th birthday. The intricate process involved soliciting design concepts from over 350 artists and Mint engravers, with the winning design by Canadian portrait artist Steven Rosati receiving the necessary approvals. The engraving and tooling phase was followed by coin production, and a limited number of 2023-dated coins bearing King Charles III’s effigy will enter circulation in early December. Despite the transition in monarchs, existing “Queen” coins are expected to circulate for over 20 years due to their lifespan.
