African Development Bank, African Guarantee Fund kick off Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) Finance Series in Kenya to unlock financing for women-led enterprises
The 6th edition of the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) Finance Series, organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with the African Guarantee Fund and the Office of the President’s Advisor on Women’s Rights, was inaugurated in Nairobi, Kenya. Themed “Enhancing Financial Inclusion for Women,” the 3-day event, aims to revolutionise the financial landscape, creating an enabling environment for women entrepreneurs to contribute to Africa’s economic development. The initiative aspires to mobilize $5 billion in financing for African women-led businesses by 2026.

This move aligns with Singapore’s attraction of substantial wealth inflows due to political stability, favourable tax conditions, and conducive policies for fund establishments. Maybank Islamic Bhd, Maybank’s Islamic banking arm, stands as the world’s fifth-largest Islamic bank with assets totalling $67 billion. The launch positions Maybank as the pioneer in Singapore to provide comprehensive “end-to-end Islamic wealth solutions,” addressing the escalating global demand for Shariah-compliant wealth products and services.
