Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in 1469. He is revered as the first Sikh Guru and the spiritual leader who laid the foundation of Sikhism. It is a joyous occasion marked by prayers, hymns, and community gatherings. Guru Nanak’s teachings emphasise the oneness of humanity, equality, compassion, and devotion to God. Langar, a community meal, is also an integral part of the celebrations. On this day, devotees, irrespective of their caste, creed, or social status, come together to share a meal prepared and served by volunteers.
Rwanda: Rwf317 billion Volcanoes National Park expansion to be piloted in 2024
The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) CEO, Francis Gatare, announced that the pilot phase of the Volcanoes National Park Expansion project will commence in 2024. Gatare also disclosed that the entire project is expected to cost about $255 million. The expansion initiative aims to increase the park’s size by approximately 23%. According to RDB’s 2022 annual report, gorilla tourism is one of the major contributors to Rwanda’s high-end tourism. It generated about $113 million in revenue, constituting a quarter of the $445 million total tourism revenues in 2022.

Seychelles to improve lives of people with disabilities with Commonwealth assistance
The Commonwealth Secretariat, in collaboration with the Government of Seychelles, organized a series of events in Victoria this month to enhance progress on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The focus was on promoting the right to live independently and receive education without discrimination based on disability. The Commonwealth Secretariat’s Human Rights Unit conducted a multi-stakeholder dialogue, working session, and workshop in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Family in Seychelles.
