Curacao becomes associate member of Caribbean Community
Curacao, the picturesque Dutch Caribbean island, has officially joined the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) as its newest associate member. This milestone was announced during the opening ceremony of CARICOM’s heads of government summit in Grenada. Curacao’s inclusion expands CARICOM’s influence and strengthens economic integration and cooperation among Caribbean nations, especially small island developing states. CARICOM, dedicated to promoting regional collaboration, welcomed Curacao as Caribbean leaders gathered to discuss pressing issues, with climate change at the forefront. This membership is expected to foster new opportunities for trade, cultural exchange, and collective problem-solving among member states. As the Caribbean faces growing environmental challenges, Curacao’s membership could contribute to more robust regional strategies to combat climate change and other shared concerns. The summit in Grenada provides a platform for Caribbean leaders to address these critical issues and forge stronger regional ties.

Manu Bhaker has made history at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first Indian woman to win multiple medals in a single Olympic Games. On Tuesday, she clinched bronze in the 10m pistol mixed team event with partner Sarabjot Singh, defeating South Korea 16-10.
