Denis O’Brien hails sale of ‘cracking’ Pacific business to Telstra
Australian telco Telstra agrees to acquire telecom Digicel Pacific for $1.6 billion of which $1.33 billion funds will be backed by the Australian government. Digicel owner and chairman Denis O’Brien said the deal comes with a “lot of growth” potential in the Pacific Islands. They have about 2.5 million subscribers in Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Nauru, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu.

Women inclusion vital to 100% electrification in Rwanda – Minister
According to Rwanda’s Minister of Infrastructure, Claver Gatete, Rwanda aims to achieve 100% electricity access by 2030, and increasing the participation and role of women in the renewable energy sector is vital to achieving this goal. Women participation in the energy sector has been limited due to the lack of skilled female engineers.
