New Zealand and the United Kingdom agree to a trade agreement that will include a provision to extend the copyright term in New Zealand by 20 years. The World Trade Organization’s standard for a copyright term is the author’s lifetime plus 50 years however, this agreement will add 20 more years to the period. Gus Hazel, a partner at James & Wells in Auckland and Brisbane thinks that an extension of copyright term will further increase the appeal and commercial value of rare artistic/literary works.

According to Startup Genome, Vancouver ranks the highest of all Canadian cities in the 2021 Life Sciences edition of the Global Startup Ecosystem Report. The data was collected from 3 million companies across 280 ecosystems, judging every region on factors like performance, funding, network, market reach, knowledge and talent. Montreal, Quebec City, Edmonton and Toronto-Waterloo also made it in the list of ecosystems to watch.

The 2nd Pakistan Africa Trade Development Conference (PATDC) to cater for the Western part of Africa will be held in Lagos, Nigeria. As a part of the Ministry of Commerce’s Look Africa Policy, more than 113 leading Pakistani companies will participate at the Single Country Exhibition in conjunction with the conference. Previously, the first PATDC took place in Nairobi, Kenya and targeted East African countries.
