Malaysia’s Petronas, Sabah state launch masterplan for gas development
Malaysia’s state oil firm Petronas and the resource-rich state of Sabah announces a master plan to develop the state’s natural gas resources in a joint statement. This includes the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant with a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) providing distribution and expansion opportunities across the state.

Pakistan’s startups in 2021: $350mn raised across 81 deals
Pakistan was able to close about 81 deals worth $350 million in the year 2021, according to a Deal Flow Tracker by Invest2Innovate (i2i) which supports startups and the entrepreneurship ecosystem in growth markets. This amount is more than 5x of what was raised in 2020 i.e., $65 million. E-commerce, fintech and logistics were the major attractions for funding in 2021.

Malaysia’s durians, other agricultural exports to see boost under RCEP trade agreement
Malaysia’s agricultural exports will benefit from the rolling out of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), according to industry experts. RCEP is expected to grow and strengthen agricultural investment and international cooperation between Malaysia and the RCEP members. By 2030, the durian’s export volume will increase by 50 per cent.
