Mozambique Heroes’ Day
Heroes’ Day, officially called Dia dos Heróis Moçambicanos, is a public holiday celebrated with parades and speeches. The day commemorates those who lost their lives fighting for the country’s independence in 1975 and also the life of Eduardo Mondlane, who led the campaign to fight for the country’s independence which was continued after his death.

2022 Commonwealth Games torch relay to be in Fiji from Feb 12-14
The Birmingham 2022 Queen’s baton relay is to arrive in Fiji on February 12. It will the 34th destination out of the 72 Commonwealth nations. The President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, will officially welcome the Baton. Further on February 14, it will leave for the next destination – Samoa.

Rwanda set to host Commonwealth meeting in June
Rwanda to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) that was postponed twice due to the impact of Covid-19. It is now planned to take place in June 2022 in the capital Kigali, the Commonwealth Secretariat said. This is going to be the first CHOGM event held in Africa for over a decade. The CHOGM is the Commonwealth’s member countries high-level consultative and policy-making gathering held every two years.
