Asia’s richest man looking to buy bankrupt textile firm in India

Indian billionaire, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd., along with Assets Care & Reconstruction Enterprise Ltd. to bid for a bankrupt Indian textile firm Sintex Industries Ltd. According to reports, Sintex provides fabric to global fashion brands like Armani, Hugo Boss, Diesel and Burberry. In an attempt to diversify from an oil empire and into telecommunications, green energy and fashion, Reliance has recently acquired marquee Bollywood brands and assets abroad in recent years.

Pakistan ranks third in Global Crypto Adoption Index

Pakistan ranks third in the global cryptocurrency adoption index, derived from ordinary people’s volume of transactions and individual saving, calculated by Chain analysis. Pakistan’s index score was 0.36 ranks out of 1. India was a close second with an index score of 0.37. One of the leading cryptocurrency payment companies, Triple-A, predicted by the end of 2021, global crypto ownership would be over 3.9% which is around 300 million users globally.

Pacific’s Kiribati to allow fishing in vast marine park

Kiribati, a pacific island nation, that has one of the largest marine protected areas in the world, defended a plan of opening to commercial fishing. It would threaten the World Heritage listing of the Phoenix Islands Protected Area, a marine park covering more than 158,000 square miles which is almost the size of Greenland and located approximately halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii. In 2015, it was declared a no-fishing zone but the government now wants to lift the ban for “sustainably use [of] marine resources.”
