King Charles III in first Parliament speech pledges to follow example of selfless duty by ‘darling late mother’
For the first time as Britain’s monarch, King Charles III addressed the Parliament. He pledged to follow his “darling late mother” and “the precious principles of constitutional governance” selflessly. About 900 members of Parliament and peers were present at the official mourning ceremony and pledged loyalty to the new sovereign.

Inauguration Day Kenya
13 September 2022 has been declared a public holiday in the Republic of Kenya for the swearing-in of William Ruto as Kenya’s fifth head of state. The ceremony will be attended by over 60,000 civilians and more than 20 heads of state, including several from Commonwealth nations to witness the military parade and drills by the Kenyan Defence Forces.

Dialogue begins to get Kiribati back into Pacific Islands Forum
Kiribati pulled out from the Pacific Islands Forum in July over the regional body’s leadership and the Suva Agreement concerns. A diplomatic dialogue has been started to persuade and re-engage Kiribati to the fold.
Recently, Semi Koroilavesau, Fiji’s fisheries minister, also visited Kiribati to initiate discussions with Kiribati’s vice president, Teuea Toatu.
