Australia holds national day of mourning for British Queen Elizabeth II
The Australian government declares Thursday a national day of mourning for the late Queen Elizabeth II and a nationwide public holiday. The ceremony was attended by many dignitaries that include PM Anthony Albanese and Governor-General David Hurley, who is also a representative of King Charles III in Australia.

Malaysia plans to recruit 10,000 Sri Lankan foreign workers in selected sectors
Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources plans to recruit a quota of 10,000 foreign workers from Sri Lanka. This came in response to the Sri Lankan government’s previously submitted official request to supply manpower on account of the country’s ongoing economic crisis.

Malta Independence Day
Also known as ‘Jum 1-Indipendenza’, lots of diverse festive events take place with various performances and patriotic concerts during this public holiday. A Pontifical Mass is arranged for by the Bishop of Malta followed by a flower-laying ceremony which is held at the St. John’s Co-Cathedral Valletta.
