The Republic of Vanuatu elects Gloria Julia King, the first women MP in its 52-member legislature in 14 years. She has pledged to provide more business opportunities to female-led businesses where gender violence is quite noticeable and very few women are self-employed.

Rishi Sunak becomes Britain’s first Indian-origin Prime Minister
King Charles III appoints Rishi Sunak as UK’s first-ever non-white Prime Minister and the third this year. The 42-year-old, Sunak is a former investment banker and hedge fund manager of Indian origin whose parents migrated to Britain from East Africa. The first lady of the UK, Akshata Murty is an Indian citizen, and daughter of Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy.
