Bahamas hosts 44th CARICOM Heads of Government meeting
Bahamas to host the 44th Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government meeting in Nassau. The meeting aims to discuss issues related to peace and climate change with regional leaders. Bahamas PM Philip Brave Davis, CARICOM Secretary Carla Barnett, Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry Director for Latin America Cai Wei and representatives from Canada are expected to hold consultations about strengthening regional ties.

Sierra Leone’s gender law boosts women’s participation in politics, business
Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, signs the Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Bill (GEWE Act 2022) into law. This law guarantees at least 30 per cent of female reservation in Parliament which also includes diplomatic appointments with equal pay. Additionally, the reservation will also apply to private institutions having 25 or more employees with an extension of maternity leave from 12 to 14 weeks.
