The expert consensus, led by Australia’s Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, has released specific guidelines to protect vulnerable young hearts receiving cancer treatment. These kids focussed instructions were published in JACC: Advances and cover the process of assessment, screening and follow-up. It includes new cancer treatments such as molecular therapies, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and chemo.

India launches the world’s first COVID-19 intranasal vaccine, iNCOVACC made by Bharat Biotech. It is available on the CoWin platform. The doses are to be administered in a gap of 28 days. The Indian drug regulators initially approved it for emergency uses only for people in the age group of 18 years and above but now it is widely available in all government and private hospitals.

The Commonwealth Secretariat officially launches 2023 as the Year of Youth. This year will celebrate and focus on empowering about 1.5 billion under-30s generation in the Commonwealth. Issues of young people like climate change, jobs, education and their overall social, economic and political participation will be at the centre stage. The Commonwealth Heads of Government who met in Kigali, Rwanda 2023 also committed to focusing on such actions.
