Vanuatu Independence Day
On its 43rd Independence Day, over 500 Vanuatu RSE workers and Ni-Van Residents, who currently reside in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato, are eagerly anticipated to assemble at the Pāpāmoa Sports and Recreation Centre for a joyous celebration. Ghana Parliament votes to end death penalty
In a significant move, Ghana’s Parliament made a historic decision to amend the country’s Criminal Offences Act, resulting in the replacement of the death penalty with life imprisonment. The amendment was introduced by Francis-Xavier Sosu, Minister of Parliament with strong support from various rights groups. Following the successful vote, a total of 170 inmates who were previously on death row will now have their sentences commuted to life imprisonment.
