Former New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark to speak at Women Deliver 2023
The most prominent conference advocating global gender equality is scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from July 17th to July 20th. Helen Clark, Women Deliver Board member and former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Pakistan’s Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai and Alicia Herbert OBE, Gender Envoy, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, UK are about to raise awareness at the event. This grand event anticipates the participation of over 6,000 passionate advocates for gender equality, including feminists, decision-makers, and champions from various corners of the world.

Tanzania’s IIT Zanzibar to be first campus led by a woman
In a significant development, the Indian government announced last Thursday that the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus will be established overseas for the first time. The chosen location for this historic endeavour is the Tanzanian island city of Zanzibar. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the governments of India and Tanzania to facilitate this initiative. Adding another layer of significance to this milestone, it has been revealed that the inaugural IIT campus abroad will be led by a woman director. Officials confirmed that Preeti Aghalayam, an alumna of IIT-Madras and a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, has been appointed as the director-in-charge of the Zanzibar campus.
