Kenya: Government unveils new funding for college students

Under a new model of funding university education in Kenya, students who are vulnerable and in dire need will be exempt from paying fees starting this year. President William Ruto has announced that the funding for these students will come in the form of government scholarships, loans, and grants. According to the President, students from disadvantaged households who enrol in universities will receive government scholarships that cover up to 53% of their education expenses, as well as loans that cover up to 40%. Only the remaining 7% of the cost of their university education will be needed to cover by their households.

Sonam Kapoor to perform at King Charles’ coronation in London, Tom Cruise will be part of it too

Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor will make her first royal appearance and perform a spoken-word piece to introduce the Commonwealth virtual choir at King Charles III’s coronation concert on 7 May. The other guests and performances include Hollywood star Tom Cruise, musical group The Pussycat Dolls, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
Buckingham Palace recently released a statement detailing the ceremonial, celebratory, and community events scheduled for the Coronation Weekend between May 6 and May 8, 2023.

This recognition comes after Ratan Tata received numerous prestigious civilian awards in India, including the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan awards, the second and third-highest civilian awards in the country.
