Premier and Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Sustainable Development, Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley, announces this year’s festivities, to be held under the theme “Virgin Islands Day Celebration: A Cultural Experience.” The event will feature a praise party hosted by Brent Hoyte and Oneyke, a cultural celebration service, and an official ceremony that will delve into significant cultural and historical aspects, providing valuable insights and lessons. Additionally, there will be traditional Virgin Islands games, cultural demonstrations, and a fishing competition, adding to the diverse range of activities for attendees to enjoy.

The day is typically marked by various events and festivities throughout the country. Official ceremonies take place, attended by government officials, dignitaries, and citizens. The national flag is raised, and the national anthem is sung with pride, symbolising Rwanda’s sovereignty and unity. Rwandan communities come together to celebrate through cultural performances, traditional dances, music, and vibrant displays of Rwandan heritage. It is a time for Rwandans to showcase their rich cultural diversity, unity, and national pride.

Julia Charlton, the chairman of the Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce, had the wonderful opportunity to interact with Félix Mbayu, Deputy Minister to the Cameroonian Minister of External Relations in charge of relations with the Commonwealth. They discussed numerous cross-border partnerships and evaluated existing collaborative arrangements. Drawing on this evaluation, the Commonwealth aims to chart a new roadmap for future partnerships with Africa, ensuring their effectiveness and sustainability.
