Tynwald Day is an annual celebration held on the Isle of Man, a self-governing British Crown Dependency located in the Irish Sea. The main ceremony takes place at St. John’s, a village on the west of the island where Tynwald Hill is located. During the ceremony, members of the Tynwald, including the Island’s Lieutenant Governor, Members of the House of Keys (lower house), and Members of the Legislative Council (upper house), gather at Tynwald Hill. The Lieutenant Governor presides over the ceremony, and various speeches and announcements are made.

One of the significant features of Tynwald Day is the “open-air parliamentary session.” Members of the public can present petitions to the Tynwald, and laws passed by the parliament are proclaimed. This open-air session is a unique aspect of the event, allowing citizens to participate and engage with their elected representatives.
