Papua New Guinea, Fiji confer highest civilian awards on PM Modi
During a regional summit in Port Moresby, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in meetings with his counterparts from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and New Zealand. The discussions aimed to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation and address regional concerns. In a special ceremony at Government House, the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, Bob Dadae, bestowed upon Modi the esteemed Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu, the highest civilian award in the country, with recipients being granted the title of “chief.”
Furthermore, Modi held his inaugural bilateral meeting with Fiji’s Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, where the two leaders assessed the progress of their countries’ development partnership. In a gesture of recognition, on behalf of the Fijian president, Rabuka conferred upon Modi the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the highest honour in Fiji. Modi graciously dedicated this distinction to the people of India and the generations of Indo-Fijians who have played a pivotal role in fostering the special bond between the two nations.

Chairman of the Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce, Julia Charlton, at the RCS Asia Regional Conference 2023 in Singapore shared thoughts on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) of which over half the participating countries are Commonwealthwealth members in a panel on “The Commonwealth Advantage”. Fellow panellists were Ben Delo, British entrepreneur, mathematician and philanthropist who highlighted the Commonwealth opportunities in the UK Indo-Pacific tilt, Andrew Wells, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Hari Om Dahiya, President, Commonwealth Chambers of Commerce, India. The two-day event featured a range of discussions and dialogue about the future of the Commonwealth and the synergistic opportunities that await!
Labour Day Jamaica
Labour Day in Jamaica has its roots in the labour movement and the struggle for workers’ rights. The holiday was officially established in 1961. On this Day, Jamaicans participate in various activities and projects aimed at improving their communities.
