Former India captain Virat Kohli (36) announced his retirement from Test cricket via social media. The announcement comes ahead of India’s five-match Test series against England starting June 20.

Kohli ends his 14-year Test career with 9,230 runs from 123 matches at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries. He ranks India’s fourth-highest Test run-scorer, behind Tendulkar, Dravid, and Gavaskar.

The decision follows teammate Rohit Sharma’s Test retirement on May 7, with both players stepping away before India’s upcoming England tour. Despite a senior BCCI official urging him to reconsider, Kohli confirmed his retirement on the eve of the announcement.
