Puja Tomar, from Uttar Pradesh, India, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first-ever Indian to win a bout at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Her victory came at UFC Louisville 2024, where she defeated Brazil’s Rayanne dos Santos in a closely contested match. Last year, Tomar made waves by becoming the first Indian woman to sign a UFC contract. In her debut fight in the women’s strawweight division, she secured victory by split decision, with judges scoring the bout 30-27, 27-30, and 29-28 in her favor.

The match showcased both fighters’ strengths, with Tomar dominating the first round with powerful body kicks that kept dos Santos on the defensive. In a tense final round, Tomar secured the victory with a decisive push kick knockdown, sealing her place in UFC history and further solidifying her position as a rising star in the sport.
