Online social media platforms will now be required to register and open offices in Nigeria. They will also need to appoint contact persons with the government. According to the country’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) these platforms will have to file annual reports with the number of registered users, complaints and inciteful content taken down due to misinformation.
