This holiday is a jovial and boisterous celebration of Maldives’ history and heritage. Celebrations begin with an official flag-hoisting ceremony and are followed by presidential speeches. Amongst the public fanfare and talent shows, the most awaited are two marching band parades; one is a military band parade and the other is a school kids’ parade.
