India’s largest airline IndiGo announced that it would be eliminating the fuel surcharges on all the flights effective immediately. This decision comes as welcome news for passengers, as it is estimated the removal of these fees will reduce airfares by approximately USD 12.01 on certain long-haul routes.
IndiGo first introduced fuel surcharges on domestic and international tickets back in October 2021 to offset the rising costs of jet fuel at the time. However, with the recent decrease in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices, IndiGo has now decided to pass along the savings to its customers by scrapping the surcharges. Lower airfares will help boost demand and make air travel more accessible and affordable.
