India to impose a tax of 30% on earnings from cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said at the federal budget. It will be in the highest tax band in the country while the government is yet to confirm the legalities of cryptocurrencies. The central bank is also aiming to introduce a digital currency by the next financial year using blockchain technology.
