This festival is celebrated with nightly menorah lighting. Special blessings and prayers are recited on this day and celebrated with traditional foods like potato latke (pancake) and jelly-filled sufganya (doughnut). People present gifts of money and a “dreidel” (a four-sided spinning with Hebrew letters in it) is usually played by the children.
