Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in 1469. He is revered as the first Sikh Guru and the spiritual leader who laid the foundation of Sikhism. It is a joyous occasion marked by prayers, hymns, and community gatherings. Guru Nanak’s teachings emphasise the oneness of humanity, equality, compassion, and devotion to God. Langar, a community meal, is also an integral part of the celebrations. On this day, devotees, irrespective of their caste, creed, or social status, come together to share a meal prepared and served by volunteers.
