The Bar Council of India (BCI), the statutory body that governs legal practice in the country, allows the entry of foreign law firms in India. However, they will still operate in the country in a limited capacity, such as by providing legal advice on foreign law, and conducting arbitration proceedings. No foreign lawyer or firm is still permitted to practice law in India, without being registered with BCI.
