De Beers Group recently announced significant progress towards its ‘Building Forever’ sustainability goals. Achievements include engaging 5,000 women and girls in STEM two years ahead of schedule, establishing a flagship Diamonds For Development Fund in Botswana, advancing renewable energy projects to support emission reduction targets, and scaling the development of Tracr, a diamond traceability platform. ‘Building Forever,’ initiated in 2020, focuses on ethical practices, thriving communities, environmental protection, and equal opportunity. De Beers strengthened partnerships with governments and NGOs in 2023, notably with the Government of Botswana to establish a Diamonds for Development Fund, aiming to bolster the country’s economy with an initial pledge of one billion Pula (~US$75 million).
