Exactly 141 years after the Berlin Conference carved Africa into colonial fragments, African influencers, journalists, artists, activists and policymakers gathered at the African Union Headquarters for the High-Level Influencers Forum on Borderless Africa (14–15 November).

In a powerful act of reclamation, 36 voices from every region and the diaspora signed and presented the Addis Ababa Influencers Declaration on Borderless Africa to Ghana’s Ambassador H.E. Robert Afriyie, demanding visa-free travel, affordable intra-African flights, thriving trade and full implementation of the AU’s Free Movement Protocol.

The forum launched the Borderless Africa Fund to resource continent-wide advocacy and saw participants pledge to tell Africa’s stories with dignity, dismantle stereotypes and hold governments accountable.
