April 7th marked the 30th anniversary of the 1994 Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi ethnic group. The genocide occurred over 100 days between April and July 1994 and involved the planned mass murder of Tutsis and moderate Hutus.
To commemorate the anniversary, India lit up the Qutub Minar monument in New Delhi in the colours of the Rwandan flag. The illumination ceremony was attended by Indian and Rwandan officials and media. India continues to support Rwanda and honour the victims of the 1994 genocide.
