Matthew and Émile benefit from the second phase of the Lomé-Cotonou Road Rehabilitation and Coastal Protection Project. This development initiative, aimed at improving living conditions and promoting regional integration, received funding from a consortium of organizations, including the African Development Bank, the European Union, the West African Development Bank (BOAD), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The project’s total cost amounted to US$194.89 million, with the African Development Bank Group providing US$39.47 million in loans and donations, the European Union contributing US$19.48 million in donations, and additional funding secured through loans and donations from the BOAD, the IsDB, and the GEF.
